Round 3, Week 1 Results

Round three saw our second tie for the season in what was a low scoring week with bowlers dominating most games. 
Mitchell’s Plain CC vs Milnerton CC

Mitchell’s Plain played host to the lads from Milnerton. The hosts won the toss and opted for the crease. Ryan Louw 21 (25) and Ricardo Moses 15 (27) attempted to get the runs going but wickets fell fast and Mitchell’s Plain posted just 82/8. Craig Herman 2/9 the pick of the Millies bowling attack. The top order made quick work of the total with Robbie van Harte 36* (21) and Zarin Hardenburg 17 (7) leading 83/2 in just 7.5 overs saw Milnerton pick up another win.

CTCC vs Ottoman CC

Ottoman CC travelled to Boon Wallace to take on Cape Town CC. The visitors won the toss and decided to have a bat. The lads got off to a good start with Taahir Adams 35* (30) and Shaley Jassiem 23 (15) top scoring and taking Ottoman to 120/5. Juan Grobbelaar led the bowling attack with 1/13 in his 4. Alwyn Williams 52 (52) and Wayne Hendricks 37 (35) took the game to an exciting last over where a dot ball and run out resulted in a tie with Cape Town responding with 120/8. Nawaldien Abrahams the pick of the attack with 2/12.

Wynberg CC vs Pinelands CC

Wynberg CC hosted Pinelands CC. The hosts won the toss and elected to bat. A solid 35 (23) from Jason Grever and 22 (24) from Joseph O’Connor saw the hosts post 129/8. Corne Rautenbauch led the attack with 2/24 in his 4. Pinelands CC responded with a matching winning 49 (39) from Garth Newman and 22 (30) from Roger Bezuidenhout. Pinelands posted 130/6 with 5 balls to spare. Craig Smith the pick of the bowlers with 2/20 in 3.

Strandfontein CC vs Rylands

Strandfontein CC hosted Rylands CC. The hosts won the toss and chose to bat. The gents never got going and were all out for 44/10. Irafaan Abrahams 11(23) and Randall Subjee 10* (26) topped their batting figures. Abdul Saiet led a strong bowling attack picking 3 sticks for just 2 runs in 3 overs. After 2 early wickets, Hashim Sunge 19 (23) and Zaheer Parker 16* (13) responded with 45/3 in just 9.5 overs. Marlin Davids took 2 wickets for 14 in just 2.

Saints vs Brackenfell CC

Brackenfell CC travelled to St Augustine’s CC, where the hosts won the toss and opted to bat. They lost early wickets upfront before Warren Damon 28 (30) and Julian Theunissen 20 (21) attempted to solidify the innings. Brackenfell’s bowlers worked together to restrict the hosts to just 95/7. Wiaan Smith taking 2/6 in his 4. Opener, Wiaan Smit 53* (35) amd Mario Penwarden 26 (20) carried Brackenfell to victory 96/2. Leaveil Jarvis took 1/14 in 3.

Hanover Park vs Green Point

Hanover Park CC hosted Green Point CC, the hosts won the toss and chose to bat. The lads couldn’t seem to find their rhythm, Costa Hendricks 20 (20) and Shafwaan Doutie 13 (25) saw them post just 87/8. Taariq Jakoet continues to shine, adding another 3 sticks for 26 runs in 4 to his tally. The visitors made quick work of smashing through the target, a few quickfire boundaries and Alistair Murray 38 (21) and Andrew Sheel 34 (23) secured the win for Green Point 89/1. Mika-Eel Ryneveldt picking up the only wicket in the innings.
